The Eulogy for Margaret Ann Jones
By Thomas F. Jones

Margaret Ann Jones was a wonderful lady and will be missed by all. She has gone on to be with the Lord, but she will never be forgotten. She had 5 children, Margie, Kathy, Edie, Doug, and myself. Like most kids, when we were young, we took her for granted. To us, she was just our mom.

She was faithful. She was always there to help or comfort us. She would always defend and stand by us. Her kids could do no wrong. But to us, she was just our mom.

She was forgiving and kind hearted. When we misbehaved, she would be angry and tell us that she was going to tell Dad when he got home. She would threaten us that we would be in big trouble when Dad found out. However, most of the time, she never told him, so we won’t get punished. But to us, she was just our mom.

She was generous. She would always sacrifice for us. She might need clothes or something for the house, but when we needed anything, she would always put us first. She would do without so she could provide for us. But to us, she was just our mom.

She was very loving. She made us feel that we were her favorite by giving to us the type of special attention and affection that each of us needed. But to us, she was just our mom.

She was hard working. She would always be busy trying to keep provide us with good home cooked food and a clean house, which was a big task because with 5 kids messing up the house as fast as we could, her job was never finished. But to us, she was just our mom.

She was fun. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Dad could always make her laugh. In fact, all the kids loved to make her laugh. But to us, she was just our mom.

She was a great hostess. Our house was the gathering place of the neighborhood. All our friends and neighbors always met at our house for fun. Mom had a way of making everyone feel at home and welcome. She would always be ready to cook, serve and entertain. But to us, she was just our mom.

She was family oriented. We always were a close family because she would have a big family Christmas at our house and who could ever forget the wonderful Fourth of July family reunions on Ridge Drive. But to us, she was just our mom.

However, as we became adults, we realized that our mom was an intelligent, resourceful, determined, diligent, hardworking woman, who would have been successful in anything that she attempted to do. However, she chose to be a wonderful wife, a marvelous mother, a gracious grandmother and great grandmother, and a fabulous friend. She achieved all these things and more, but, most of all, we will always remember, be thankful, and be blessed because

SHE WAS OUR MOM!!!!

This is a song that was written in 1995 for Margaret Jones by her children as a birthday present.
She played it every day until she died.
Even when she didn’t remember her children any more, she played the song and smiled.
Margaret passed away on January 28 2007.
